Great participation at the DYPA "Tourism Career Day"

More than 4.000 citizens came in contact with representatives from 100 businesses

The "Tourism Career Day" was successfully completed and has great received attendance. The event was organised by the Greek Public Employment Service (DYPA) at the Peace and Friendship Stadium (SEF) today, Saturday, 30th March.

It is the second time this year that DYPA implements such an event especially for the tourism sector, the first one being the online European Career Day organised last February.

More than 4.000 citizens attended the event along with 100 businesses in the tourism and other similar sectors, looking for staff for over 3.000 jobs.

Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, Domna Michailidou, stated: "Today's event confirms in the most emphatic way that linking employees with the needs of the labour market is the answer to the demands of our time. And this because it brings employees closer to businesses, in this case, the 100 businesses in the tourism and related industries that are looking for 3.000 employees. Such actions are integral part of the Active Labour Market Policies we implement to cover the needs of the business community, the national economy and, of course, of employees. We aim at intensifying these actions so that they can become the basic tool not only to decrease the unemployment and to increase employability but to lead to better paid jobs".

DYPA Governor, Spyros Protopsaltis, stated: "In our efforts to cover the increased needs for staff in the tourism sector we organised two Tourism Career Days this year before the start of the tourist season, today's event at SEF and a European online event in February. The impressive attendance of citizens and the large-scale participation of 100 businesses highlight how important are such targeted actions linking supply and demand, that is jobseekers with businesses looking for staff. After the implementation of 28 similar events, Career Days have been established as an institution embraced by society because it meets effectively an actual need. We are constantly at the side of the unemployed, the employees and the businesses and continue our efforts with initiatives that enhance the relationships of trust that we have forged with them".
