Job description

We are looking for one person in a position as a kayak guide at our base in Flåm. The position is seasonal and will be from April to September 2020. The work will entail regular kayak guide duties and maintenance work on our base and equipment. We may need some extra staff in July and August. Applicants that do not reach the shortlisting as kayak guide may get a chance to join in our summer trainee programme.

Skills:

Education, work experience, language, certificate etc.

Position demands: The applicant MUST have: previous experience in kayaking and guiding; good interpersonal; communication and organisational skills; previous experience from outdoors activities and a desire to learn more about this; a valid First Aid qualification (minimum 16hrs course, preferably NOLS WFA or NOLS WFR); a valid driving licence class B (class BE is an advantage); speak fluent English.

 

It is an advantage if applicants have qualifications in kayaking to a 2 or 3 star level trough canoeing associations such as BCU, ACA, NPF, EPP or similar national kayaking association. Speak other languages than English (i.e. German, Italian, French, Spanish, Russian)

Salary

NOK 13 500 – 20 000 (App. Euro 1200 to 2300) gross pr. month depending on experience and qualifications. Housing is free and is an addition to the salary. Housing is valued at NOK 4500 per month, including electricity and municipal taxes.

Other information

Training: For the right person we will also offer Kayak and guide training as a part of the position. Courses to from 3 to 4 star level in the NPF (Norwegian Canoeing Association) will be included. All guides must take part in our Guide Training Program. This program focus on; Safety issues; Technical kayaking skills; Customer relations; Guide skills; Local culture and history; Environmental awareness.

 

Housing: Housing in a shared accomodation with other guides is included in salary. All guides have their own room and share bathroom, toilet, kitchen and living room. In Flåm this standard of accommodation is valued to approximately 4000 NOK per month during the season. Be aware that cleaning of own and common rooms plus contributions to household expenses such as toilet paper & soap is expected.

Job description

Information about the position: We are looking for 2 persons as Trainee/ intern kayak guide at our base in Flåm. The position is seasonal and will be from April to September 2020. The work will entail regular kayak guide duties and maintenance work on our base and equipment. Hopefully the intern will be able to take on duties as full day tour guide by July. We also offer opportunities for shorter internships of 4 weeks.

Position demands: The applicant MUST have: some previous experience in kayaking and preferably in guiding; good interpersonal; communication and organisational skills; previous experience from outdoors activities and a desire to learn more about this; speak fluent English.

 

In order to become a full time day tour guide by July the candidate need to have:  a valid First Aid qualification (minimum 16hrs course, preferably NOLS WFA or WFR); a valid driving licence class B (class BE is an advantage).
